The symposium rotates between a focus on woody plants one year and herbaceous perennials the next.  The 2026 Southeastern Plant Symposium will be two days of incredible\, intense programs for plant lovers with a focus on herbaceous perennials.For registrants attending the symposium\, Juniper Level Botanic Garden and Plant Delights Nursery will be open for visiting and shopping on Thursday\, June 4 from 8:00am to 5:00pm and Sunday\, June 7 from 8:00am to Noon. ET \n\n\n\n\nAuction opens June 2 at 3:00 pm EDT and closes on June 5 at 5:00 pm.Advance registration is required. Registration is limited and is considered complete when payment is received.Program cancellations can be made up to two weeks before the program’s start date. Join us for a look back at these gradual changes and the thought leaders and technologies that have pushed us forward. Janet Draper has spent her career chasing information\, only to discover that there is a huge difference between information and knowledge in the world of horticulture.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nJanet Draper \n\n\n\nMary Livingston Ripley Garden Horticulturist\, Smithsonian GardensWashington\, D.C. \n\n\n\nJanet Draper earned a degree in Horticulture from Purdue University\, then spent the next ten years really learning through working in perennial nurseries in the U.S.\, Germany and England putting plants in little black plastic pots. Finally\, she started putting plants in the ground and really seeing what they did through years of private estate work.
