One of many horticultural oddities to grace the JLBG gardens is this fascinating, variegated selection of our native cross vine, Bignonia capreolata. This Tennessee selection, named Bignonia ‘Jeana’s Jewel’ was discovered and shared by plantswoman, Jeana Prewitt, who is also the namesake of the popular Phlox ‘Jeana’. Although we love this oddity, I can’t imagine it has much commercial value. Perhaps this is one we’ll one day propagate for the Southeastern Plant Symposium auction.
Why no commercial value??
Just my gut based on 40 years of nursery business. As always, I’d sure love to be wrong.

I’ve been searching for a variegated selection of bignonia. How does it fair in sun, and how’s the flowering compared to other cultivars?
Our plants are growing in light shade/part sun, so we haven’t tried it in full sun. We have also yet to observe it flower.

If you propagate I would buy it. Orange flowers against that foliage. Oh yes!
