It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Jeff McMillan and his family and staff at Almost Eden mail order nursery in Merryville, Louisiana. Like many of us, they have been struggling with financial issues over the last few years, and it appears the end has finally arrived. Jeff still hopes to sell the nursery intact, but there is only about six weeks for that to happen, before the bank moves in to take control. The current asking price tag is $290,000, which includes 11 acres in the metropolis of Merryville, Louisiana. For those, not familiar with the region, that’s about 75 minutes from Beaumont, Texas. On the property are greenhouses, a 40′ x 100′ air conditioned barn designed for mail order, a good water source, lots of equipment, and purportedly a good bit of inventory on the ground.
