In 2016, we introduced Amsonia ‘Storm Cloud‘ in conjunction with our friend Hans Hansen of Walters Gardens. Above is the same plant when we discovered by a stream, growing in deep shade in Central Alabama. What a star it has become, evidenced by the photo below.

Is this ok in deep shade (wet)?
The culture says “Sun to Part Sun”; but the description says that this plant was found in “wet, deep shade.”
Great point. Obviously, it surprised us by growing naturally in deep, wet shade, but it is so much better in sun. If you have wet shade, it’s certainly amenable to those conditions.
I love the look of this. How do you think it would grow in North Texas (Southern Plains) in black clay, somewhat amended? I have an irrigation system that is used if we go two weeks without rain.
It should be fabulous in North Texas.
This is like a Cinderella story! Love the before and after photos!
‘Storm Cloud’ is a winner!
