Here’s a photo of a clump of Cyclamen coum in the garden today. These have been in full flower for over a month now, despite the snow and ice. Helleborus x hybridus yellow with maroon eyezone It’s been very difficult to find good rich yellow-flowered hellebores, but these were created by our friend, plant breeder Hans Hansen.

Helleborus vesicarius While most hellebores are easy to grow, the same cannot be said for the summer-dormant, Turkish Helleborus vesicarius, which requires summer drought like many of the Mediterranean bulbs. Our plants here at Juniper Level Botanic Garden finally flowered for the first time ever this week…hooray!
