Can’t Miss Pink Mist

We’ve grown Pink Mist calla lily for decades, and have rarely seen a flower, so a couple of years ago, we transplanted one to a much more moist site, where the species, Zantedeschia aethiopica grows in the wilds of South Africa. While it persisted for years in our garden, in average moisture garden soil, it’s performance in a moist/wet site has been nothing short of spectacular. In only two years in its new location, it has exploded into a 3.5′ tall giant, with massive leaves, and a stunning pale pink floral display. Now we know the cultivation secret, we’ll start propagating Zantedeschia aethiopica ‘Pink Mist’ for an upcoming catalog return.
