Plant images from the garden and nursery

Here’s a new photo of Epimedium ‘Pretty in Pink’….a Plant Delights Nursery introduction…a great combination of large flowers and mottled foliage.

Finally, the epimediums have started to pop in the cold frames and they look wonderful.  We’re also seeing the first few stalks starting in the garden, but they are several weeks behind. The weather forecasts…if you believe long range forecasts, calls for our last frost of the spring this Wednesday night…hoorah!  Here’s a photo I

I should have used a video camera, for Jasper spent nearly an hour in various states of ecstasy tumbling around with the cut branches.  If you haven’t grown Teucrium marum, it provides a load of entertainment value.

It was time cut trim our plants of Teucrium marum…aka Kitty Crack.  No more than a minute after cutting the plant, Jasper came running and began to indulge.

Our crop of the Himalayan Cardiocrinum giganteum are looking great in the coldframes today…no dried up, dead plants here.  The seed take 2 years to even germinate, so this is a long-term production crop.

Last week, I posted a leaf closeup of the giant Chinese mayapple ( Podophyllum pleianthum ‘Tai Wedding’ ), so here it is in the garden today…loving one of our few warm days since last fall.
