In flower now at JLBG is the amazing Lychnis ‘Rolly’s Favorite’.  We’ve grown this in the garden for years and it’s proven very easy and reliable in both sun and part shade, brightening up the garden every year in late winter and early spring.  We strongly recommend this if you have a pink-themed garden section.

From the gardens here at Juniper Level is Iris unguicularis ‘Dazzling Eyes‘…a Rick Tasco selection of the wonderful winter-blooming iris.  These are simply glorious right now.  We recommend either full or part sun for best performance.

Just snapped this photo of the wonderful native groundcover, Erigeron pulchellus ‘Lynnhaven Carpet;.  In either light shade or part sun, this is a real gem, especially now when it flowers, but it’s even attractive without flowers.  We really like this!

No, it’s not a microscopic closeup of the leg of a fly or an movie extra from “Men in Black”.  It’s the top of a cycad, Cycas taitungensis once we removed the winter damaged fronds this week….pretty cool!

Primula ‘Drumcliff’ is flowering now with its unique brown/dark-green foliage and contrasting near white, yellow-centered. flowers.

  T We just snapped this photo of a blush pink-flowered bloodroot seedling in our trial beds, that originated from a pink-tinged plant we found in the mountains of Virginia many years ago.  The new leaf, flower bud, and outer petals are pink, while the center is almost pure white.  Perhaps one day, we’ll have

We just took this photo of a cute little cactus in the gardens here at Juniper Level, Pediocactus knowltonii.  All the cactus experts said this wouldn’t survive our wet, cold winters, so we planted it with earplugs when it went in the ground a year ago.

One of our fabulous southeast native shrub mints is in superb flower today in the cold frames at Plant Delights…Conradina canescens ‘Gray Ghost’…very easy to grow in well-drained soils, and hot sunny sites. The leaves are minty strong!
