I was walking over our newly acquired adjacent property a couple of days ago, and walked right up on this blue heron, who was sitting obliviously in the lawn. Â Usually, they fly away if I get with a couple hundred feet, but this fellow seemed nearly tame as I maneuvered within a couple of feet for this photo.
How amazing! They generally are much shyer than that. I once had the pleasure of lying on the ground while one of them flew over me about 15 feet above. And of watching another catch a fish – stillness, then a flash, and it was gone. They are amazing birds – and given your reputation, why wouldn’t you be Heronswood South?
