An introduction to Anna

Have you met Anna yet? This charmer is a member of the Gesneriad clan, first cousin to the better known African violets, sinningias, and gloxinias. Anna ophiorrhizoides has only been with us for a year and a half, but we’re certainly hoping to make this a long term relationship. Before she moved to North America, she spent her free time hanging out in forested grassy slopes and rock crevices in Southeastern Sichuan and Southern Guizhou at elevations between 3,000-5,000′ elevation. So far, she seems content is forested rocky slopes at 330′ elevation in Eastern North Carolina.

  1. great numbers of gesneriads in E Asia, Tony. What chance is there that several others will be happy in your climate conditions?
