Flowering now in the garden is one of the rarest of the lenten rose hybrids, Helleborus x belcheri ‘Pink Ice’. This cross of the European Helleborus niger and the Chinese Helleborus thibetanus, was developed by Kevin Belcher at the UK’s Ashwood Nurseries. Since Helleborus thibetanus has been a miserable failure in our hot summer climates, we weren’t sure how the hybrid would fare. After five years in the ground, we are thrilled to report that Helleborus ‘Pink Ice’ is doing great.

I would love to add some pink ice to my hellebores garden. Will we be able to buy these from you?
Since this clone is not in tissue culture production, it will take many years to have enough to list from division….perhaps one day. The waiting list is reportedly years long to purchase this from the UK breeder.
Very beautiful. Would love to buy it.
Since it doesn’t de well with southern hot humid weather what about my Midwestern longer, colder winters? Any idea of what zones it should work in?
I expect it should thrive in the cold Midwest.
