Here’s a favorite combination in the summer garden, featuring the pineapple lily, Eucomis ‘Purple Reign’, Schizachyrium scoparium ‘Chameleon’, Geranium ‘Azure Rush’, and the dryland fern, Astrolepis sinuata. This area gets about six hours of full sun daily, with average to dry soil moisture.

I had no idea ‘Chameleon’ would read that light, have only taken note of the purple pictures. Is this or do you have any others in appreciable shade or is full on sun a requirement to look this good?
Very striking composition with light fine foreground in front of bold, dramatic dark Eucomis and just enough added textural and color contrast with fern and flower. I wonder if continued breeding will bring purple Eucomis leaf color further through growing season.

This absolutely needs sun to thrive. The eucomis leaf color change in summer is due to the heat caused degredation of the anthocyanin pigment. The only way to make the color hold would be via genetic engineering.
