Hort Tubers

We never know who will show up at our Open Nursery days, but it was great to chat with Jim and Stephany Putnam of HortTube at our recent open weekend. This local couple do so much to promote gardening and share good plant information all over the country…we salute your amazing work! Here is a video they filmed with Tony in the JLBG gardens.

  1. It’s good to see the Putmans’ garden space has increased several fold over the past year. It couldn’t have happened to a nicer more generous horticultural couple.

With a new native garden expansion adjacent to their home in Raleigh NC, plus an entirely separate ‘coastal plain’ garden down east in soon to be ‘zone 8b’ Willard NC, I’m sure we can look forward to many interesting reports on HortTube. Perhaps next a fan from western NC will come forward and make available a garden space along the Blue Ridge for a true Mountain-Piedmont-Coastal Plain gardening trifecta.

    1. While that sounds lovely, trial gardens are no better than the funding for, and quality of maintenance and data gathering. New gardens are almost always going to struggle more than established gardens, where this is always a huge issue.
