Magnolia lotungensis flowering at JLBG

Parakmeria lotungensis flower

Here are photos of our lovely specimen of Magnolia (Parakmeria) lotungensis that flowered extremely well this year.  This evergreen magnolia is one of our favorites and has never shown a sign of winter damage here.  Fingers crossed for good seed set.

    Hi,
I have a tree of Parakmeria lotungensis, which is about 3 to 4 meters high, but so far it never flowered.
So I was curious about the age of the P. lotungensis tree in your arboretum.

    Looking forward to your response,

    1. Our plant went in the ground in 2001, so is now 24 years old. The first recorded flowering was 2019, but I seem to recall a single flower a couple of years earlier.
