In 2007, we released an amazing silver blue, winter hardy form of Agave x protamericana, named A. ‘Silver Surfer’. Unfortunately, the tissue culture lab that was producing it for us closed, and supplies over the last decade have been virtually non-existent. We’ve reverted by to our old, less efficient method of using offsets, which are then cored, to create manageable sized plants for shipping. In January, we should finally have more of this amazing specimen to share for the first time in over a decade, other than a few that we dribbled out during the COVID-mania years. Here is our garden specimen in late October, measureing 6′ tall x 10′ wide. Winter hardiness is Zone 7b-9b.
