We just took this photo of a cute little cactus in the gardens here at Juniper Level, Pediocactus knowltonii. All the cactus experts said this wouldn’t survive our wet, cold winters, so we planted it with earplugs when it went in the ground a year ago.

We keep our potted tibouchina plants in the cold frames over winter, where the leaves take on this incredible pink coloration when exposed to cooler temperatures. Where tibouchina isn’t winter hardy outdoors, it makes an incredible house plant for a cooler room in the house.
