It’s hard to resist humming the Village People’s 1979 disco tune, In the Navy, every year when the amazing Agapanthus ‘Navy Blue’ comes into full bloom. From our kitchen window, it’s certainly looking quite stunning in the summer garden. Although a single flower head isn’t as large as some other cultivars, the mere show power of this outstanding clone is hard to surpass. Zones: 6a to 10b.

That is beautiful. I have trouble getting Agapanthus to come back for me. I have one that I have had for years, it does great. But I have planted others, full sun, early spring and they do not overwinter for me. Are some of them hardier that others?
Yes, there is a huge difference in the hardiness of different agapanthus clones. Some are marginal in Zone 8, while others are winter hardy throughout Zone 6.
I guess I should start looking for the ones that are hardier.
thank you
Beautiful. It looks especially lush planted in mass.
