Oh, Borinda

We really love the bamboo genus, Borinda, to the point that everytime I hear O.C. Smith’s 1987 beach music classic, Brenda, I think he’s singing about our bamboo. Our 18 year old clump of Borinda boliana is one of our absolute favorite non-invasive bamboos. Despite the fact that it doesn’t gallop, it’s still a large plant. It’s been almost a decade since we’ve offered this, since the production pipeline for many of these cool bamboos has dried up. We were told when we planted it, that it probably wouldn’t take our summer heat, so we planted two, one in shade, and this one, in full sun. The one in shade has barely grown at all since it went in the ground, but the one in full sun is now 15′ tall x 30′ wide. We are hoping to have this back in production in the next year or so. Hardiness Zone 7b-9b.
