Tied up in Pine Knots

Today is the last day of our Winter Open Nursery & Garden Days, 9am-5pm. Explore the beauty of the winter garden, shop the sales greenhouses, and join us for our Gardening Unplugged garden chats:

10 am – Sowing for Spring (Aaron Selby)
2 pm – Top Evergreens for Winter (Doug Ruhren)

It was delightful to look up during our first weekend of winter open house and see the smiling faces of our friends from Pine Knot Farms in Virginia. On the left is Dick Tyler, a new octogenarian, who co-founded the business with his late wife, Judith. On the right is Bryan Byers, who purchased the business from Dick, to ensure continuity into the future. Bryan is a 2012 NC State Horticulture graduate who has been working at Pine Knot since 2016, and took ownership in late 2022. We share many of the same open house dates in winter, which many folks us an an opportunity to visit both Pine Knot and JLBG/PDN.
