Whitened Teeth and other Dental Work

On a 2019 botanical expedition to Montgomery County, NC, our staff (Zac and Jeremy) discovered this never before documented natural hybrid between Dentaria dissecta (Cardamine dissecta) and Dentaria laciniata (Cardamine contactenata). We’ve christened two clones from the population, Dentaria x lacinisecta ‘Whitened Teeth’ (top) and Dentaria ‘Angel Hair’ (below). Now, we just need to have someone officially publish the nothospecies. Below that is yet another natural hybrid from an expediton to Georgia, that represents another new taxa. These spring ephemerals flower for us in late March/early April, and go dormant by May.

Dentaria ‘Little Lumpkin’ is a natural hybrid of Dentaria diphylla and Dentaria dissecta that we collected in 2019 in Lumpkin County, Georgia, and christened Dentaria ‘Little Lumpkin’. The garden effect is a very dwarf, 2″ tall version of Dentaria diphylla.
