When the Light is Right

Last week when we were finishing dinner, Anita noticed that the setting sun was wonderfully illuminating a clump of Miscanthus ‘Little Kitten’, so we jumped up from the table, cameras in hand, to capture the moment below. Being mindful allows us to take in so many amazing, but fleeting moments in the garden.

Couldn’t agree more. 3 days after the devastating Helene impact in the SC Upstate, we were having dinner on our porch (one of many with no power) and caught this fleeting moment. My friend suggested it was “Mother nature trying to apologize”. We lost 51 large and beautiful trees on the front and ENE side of our sloping property, about 3/4 of an acre. In clearing I have found small laurels and hollys that have seemingly found a home. Now that this formerly shady area is part sun, I am eager to see what other plants mother nature supplies.
