Here are more wild gingers flowering this week in our garden collection. This fascinating genus is a member of the pipewort family, Aristolochiaceae. All of the images below are clump forming species.
Asarum asaroides ‘Dohmu’ is a yellow-flowerd form of a typically purple-flowered Japanese species.

Asarum campaniflorum ‘Ginormous’ is our selection of the beautiful Chinese species from Hubei Province, published in 2004. This selection has flowers that are double the normal size.

We grow several dozen selections of the Chinese Asarum ichangense, but our selection, Asarum ‘Superbloom’ is by far, the showiest, with its amazing floral display. Interestingly, it’s looking like this may be a synonym of the Japanese, Asarum asperum.

Asarum macranthum ‘Wild Hearts’ is a stunning form of the Taiwan native, Asarum macranthum.

Asarum maximum JLBG014 is our selection of the Chinese panda-face ginger, whose foliage is similar to our earlier introduction, Asarum ‘Shell Shocked’

Asarum rhombiforme ‘Blood Brothers’ is an amazingly heavy-flowered form of the NC native wild ginger. This superb selection is from Transylvannia County, NC.

Asarum senkakuinsulare is a little-known Japanese species, that has been exceptional in our trials. The photo below is our heavy-flowered selection, Asarum ‘Razzle Dazzle’.

So cool!! I love this plant!
