Recently, Garden Curator, Doug Ruhren, was moving one of our new Amorphophallus konjac selections from our field trials into the garden. When dug, this form, with solid black stems, had a tuber that was nearly the size of a basketball. The old growth has died back, and it will remain dormant until next June. Below is the same plant, which we named Amorphophallus konjac ‘Black Jack’, a month earlier. Hardiness Zone 6a-10b.

That is a beautiful plant. Would love to see the flower. It looks like Amorphophallus konjac Nightstick. What is the difference between the two of them? Also, how long until it would be available to purchase? I have to have one for my collection.
The stalk is slightly darker than A. konjac ‘Nightstick’, and the leaf spread is larger.
