Finding a Fall Fatsia Feast

Flowering in November is the lovely evergreen shrub, Fatsia japonica ‘Variegata’. If you look closer at the second image, you’ll find that it’s a feast for a range of native insects. Hardiness zone 7b to 10b.

  1. I’m in 7B Va and my Fatsia is one of the first plants I ever bought from PD. This was at least 10 years ago. It has survived well and been enjoyed by flower arrangers and visitors, both human and insects. It’s been damaged by past winters but I clear out the dead and it revives nicely. I believe this has kept my Fatsia at a manageable size. One of my very favorites.
