Coming in second place to the Helleborus niger we posted earlier is Helleborus x ballardiae ‘Mahogany Snow’. This is a cross of the Christmas rose, Helleborus niger and Helleborus lividus. The flowers emerge white, then age to a lovely salmon pink. We find this hellebore hybrid much easier to grow than either parent.

With the start of the New Year, I am suddenly unable to open the images in the Blog. I can see them on the JLBG website just fine.
Is anyone else having this problem?
Hi Debra! Thank you for letting us know about this issue. Just to clarify, the images are not showing up in the blog email, is that correct?
Yes exactly, and I cannot click on the symbol to open them. Yet the images are visible on the website.
Yes
Does Helleborus xballardiae ‘Mahogany Snow’ do well in average garden soil (mine is clay soil amended with organics) or does it need super fast drainage such as in your crevice garden, or half Perma-Till?
Other than avoiding waterlogged soil, it should thrive in another other average woodland garden soil.
Is this for sale?
You’ll find our current Hellebore offerings here. H. x ballardiae ‘Cinnamon Snow’ is very similar.
