Looking lovely in the garden in early April is our NC collection of Carex physorhyncha. This North American native sedge, found naturally in dry woodlands, has been taxonomically mixed with Carex albicans var. australis, and we still need a taxonomic rumble to get this finally sorted out. Whatever we wind up calling it, it’s a darn fine native garden sedge. Our collection of carex at JLBG has now topped 100 species, so we’re thrilled that people are finally starting to add them to their gardens.

Physorhyncha, qu’est que c’est?
Alfred Hitchcock would be proud.
Again, no pictures attached.

Some seem to spread from seed and others seem to be much less invasive.
