Echinacea (Coneflower)

The JLBG collection includes about 4 species (including subspecies and varieties); 111 clones

For a plant genus, whose interspecifc breeding only goes back to 2009, the results have been staggering. Early hybrids, while colorful, often lacked good perennialization, which resulted from breeders focusing on flower color as opposed to habit and longevity. As the breeding has continued, both traits, along with garden floral show have improved dramatically.
