Hardy Amaryllids

Many of the winter hardy amaryllids are numerous enough to have their own gallery (Crinum, Hymenocallis, Lycoris, and Rain lilies (Zephyranthes and Habranthus). Other smaller collections are featured here.

Those include:

While the majority of rhodophiala species are native to Chile, we find most of these ungrowable in our hot, humid climate in the Southeast US. We have consequently focused on making selections of Rhodophiala bifida from Argentina, which thrives in a wide range of adverse conditions.

Scadoxus is a genus of 9 species, native to both African and into the Arabian peninsula.

Sprekelia is small genus of only 2 species, both Mexican. Many authorities still do not yet recognize the more recently discovered, Sprekelia howardii.
